Welcome

The Center for CBT
Our team of skilled, empathetic professionals is devoted to providing our clients with tailored, compassionate, and meaningful psychotherapeutic intervention for a vast array of conditions and concerns. In our quest to offer the highest quality of care to our clients as well as raise awareness of effective treatment options, we offer training seminars and informative presentations to clinicians and the general public.
Our Treatment Methods
Among other forms of therapy, we specialize in:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a structured, practical form of psychotherapy, originally developed to treat depression but adapted for a broad range of conditions, particularly anxiety-related disorders. The approach is focused and goal-oriented, hinging on the principle that our thoughts affect every area of life. The tenet of CBT is that changing our most basic ways of thinking – our underlying beliefs and assumptions – has a profound effect on our actions.
Due to CBT’s problem-focused nature, we employ feedback and precise measures to track progress. It’s more than simple talk therapy; cognitive-behavioral therapy is an organized approach designed to treat the source of problematic emotional, behavioral and physiological symptoms
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT is a subset of CBT that combines traditional cognitive-behavioral methods with concepts of mindfulness and acceptance. Its basis is in dialogue (hence the term “dialectical”); the goal is to find the balance between change and acceptance of oneself.
The emotionally- and behaviorally-based approach is used to treat a range of conditions, including borderline personality disorder, mood disorders, and substance abuse, and consists of specific skill training sessions in individual and group capacities.
Schema-Focused Cognitive Therapy
Also known briefly as Schema Therapy, this module is an integrative treatment that combines several aspects of cognitive-behavioral, experiential, interpersonal and psychoanalytic therapies in one method. A schema is defined as an organized pattern of thought and behavior, or a core belief, that affects vital areas of functioning.
Put simply, a person may be affected by a preconceived belief that is fundamentally rooted, even if he or she recognizes its negativity. Schema Therapy draws on imagery and emotions to address the origin of maladaptive behavior.
